Tips for Bladder Pain Relief

Ice for Quick Pain Relief

Ice Cubes and Freezer Bags 2

The best pain relief suggestion I have for you is applying ice below the stomach.  I know this sounds very simple; however, it is one of the few things that really helps with the pain.  Grab a few ice cubes; place them in a plastic bag.  And apply!  It is that easy.  I did a post on this technique a few years ago, and I thought it was worth mentioning again.

I find that freezer bags work best.  The regular plastic zip bags tend to leak.

For me, when I use ice, I get quick pain relief.  I especially use it when watching television or just before bed.  Also, if you have a long drive ahead of you, grab your plastic zip bag of ice.

I know that some people use heat, but I personally get better results with ice.  If I really want to reduce my pain level, I put about a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in water.  See Tip 101: FAST Pain Relief!

    1. It helps with urgency in the sense that it coates the bladder which should lead to less spasms….leading to less urgency. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you give Marshmallow Root a try.
