Cyber Food Truck – Cantaloupe

Inside Food Truck View Final

My Cyber Food Truck has rolled in my blog with another food item to enjoy!

Okay, so this is not a recipe but it is a fruit you should consider adding to your diet expecially those people suffering from Interstitial Cystitis (IC).  Flooding our bodies with nutrients and healthy foods like canteloupe helps strengthen our immune system.  A nutrient-dense diet and regular excercise are invaluable when it comes to helping our bodies heal.  With IC, you have to follow a strict diet but that does not mean you cannot eat healthy foods.  Find the food that works best for you.  Cantaloupe is an excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin A (in the form of carotenoids). It is also a good source of B vitamins (B1, B3, B6, and folate) as well as vitamin K, potassium, magnesium, copper, and fiber.

The health benefits of cantaloupe include prevention of heart attacks, improves eye health, good for skin, weight loss, prevents arthritis, healthy lungs, boost the immune system, improves cardiovascular system and prevent cancer.

Cantaloupes were first introduced to North America by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the New World in 1494. In the US, California is the biggest cultivator of cantaloupe.  China is the largest producer of cantaloupes accounting for 51% of the world total. Other significant countries growing cantaloupe were Turkey, Iran, Egypt, and India [http://justfunfacts.com/interesting-facts-about-cantaloupe]

Enjoy your serving of cantaloupe!  Thanks for visting my blog and food truck.

The cantaloupe was named after the commune Cantalupo in Sabina, in the Sabine Hills near Tivoli, Italy, a summer residence of the Pope.

  1. I have been eating cantaloupe for awhile now with no problem, and I do have IC. I was diagnosed with the old fashioned kind with Hunners Ulcers. Ouch. I had been in remission for a good long while – since 1998, but it has come back with a vengeance.

    1. Faye – I apologize for the late reply. I am sorry to hear that your IC is back. Can you tell me how you are feeling now? Also, can you share some tips on how you were able to go into remission for all of those years?
