Prevalence of Interstitial Cystitis

Video transcription below.

Interstitial Cystitis (IC) is most common in women.

Welcome to today’s program! The prevalence of Interstitial Cystitis varies by country, and there are several factors that can contribute to the differences in prevalence. The United States has a high number of clinical trials for Interstitial Cystitis. However, the prevalence of Interstitial Cystitis in the United States is likely underreported due to a number of factors, including differences in diagnostic criteria and the difficulty of identifying patients for research.

The prevalence of Interstitial cystitis in Europe is lower than in the United States, with reports indicating 18 cases per 100,000 women. The prevalence of Interstitial Cystitis in Japan is even lower than in Europe, with reports indicating 3 to 4 cases per 100,000 women. The prevalence of Interstitial Cystitis in China is estimated to be at least 100 per 100,000 people. There are no readily available statistical studies of Interstitial Cystitis in India, but the minimum population prevalence is estimated to be at least 100 per 100,000 people.

Interstitial Cystitis is most common in women, but it can also occur in men and children. For example, between 1 million and 4 million men in the United States have Interstitial Cystitis. More research is needed for this chronic disease. This concludes our report. Thank you for watching.

  1. I’m in the USA and I don’t know what is worst, the Cystitis or Neurophy. Its terrible that both “Barn Burners” are both below.

I have come to the conclusion that my huge wicker basket holding all the creams that they swore would stop the Neurophy, is just a farce. As for the Cystitis some days its okay, others , omg!.

I do find that the meds that block nerve endings help, but try to tell your doctor why you need that drug,,

    1. My IC has been terrible lately. I definitely agree with you that meds that block nerve endings help. I really wish they would find a cure. Thank you so much for commenting. It is nice to hear from someone who understands the issues with IC.
