Does Boswellia Help Interstitial Cystitis?

Boswellia supplements (Boswellia serrata, also known as Indian frankincense) can help heal the lining of the bladder and ease Interstitial Cystitis symptoms. July 19, 2021. Boswellia serrata is a tree native to India, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula. It is commonly used in the traditional Indian medicine system, Ayurveda.

Boswellia serrata contains chemicals that might decrease swelling and increase the body’s immune response. Extracts of the Boswellia serrata sap, bark, and other plant parts have been taken by mouth for therapeutic purposes.

Also, new studies show that curcumin can help treat the inflammation 🔥 that leads to Interstitial Cystitis and its symptoms. Boswellia serrata and curcumin are not the same, but they share similar active compounds and have overlapping benefits. 

Research suggests that Boswellia’s anti-inflammatory properties may help manage Interstitial Cystitis (IC) symptoms by reducing bladder inflammation, though evidence from human trials is limited. The therapeutic use of boswellia for Interstitial Cystitis is promising but not yet conclusive. 

  • Curcumin: Curcumin, one of the most potent bioactive compounds in turmeric, is a potent anti-inflammatory agent. New studies show that curcumin can help treat the inflammation that leads to Interstitial Cystitis and its symptoms.
  • Boswellia: Boswellia supplements can help heal the lining of the bladder and ease Interstitial Cystitis symptoms.
