I found this “healing” testimony from No-Butterscotch1751 on Reddit. Take a look at what this person did to get her symptoms under control.
“I’ve managed Interstitial Cystitis (IC) solely through diet, supplements, and OTC meds and am doing significantly better than I was when diagnosed. I began by following the IC diet and conducting an elimination diet to identify my dietary triggers. I eliminated those triggers and have been focusing on keeping the inflammation down, which I believe has given my body time to heal. Sex which used to flare me no longer does & I’ve also been able to reintegrate former food / drink triggers with no issues. I’ve been able to have white wine, margaritas, mojitos, soda etc. over the past few months with no issues (these all used to cause bad burning for me).”

“I’ve never tried prescription medication to treat IC – I’m not against it at all, but my doctor didn’t want to prescribe me anything.”
I’m hoping this [testimony] will help some of you & give you hope it’s possible to get better.
“Here are the supplements that I believe have contributed most towards my healing:
- Quercetin with Bromelain – this is the best supplement I’ve found for bringing down pressure/inflammation. I’d take it immediately once experiencing symptoms
- MSM & / or Marshmallow Root Capsules – these were great for stopping the burning. (They work by coating the bladder and soothing it). I even found in situations where I wanted to have alcohol, that if I took 1 pill of each 30 mins before consuming it, I wouldn’t experience the burn from alcohol that I normally would. I think this helped me to heal as well by preventing further irritation. Please note MSM & Marshmallow root can interfere with the absorption of medication, so that’s a risk to consider if you are on other meds.
- NAC (n-acetyl cysteine) – this supplement has really helped me heal. I take it with L-Arginine which improves circulation. I’ve read studies on NAC for IC as well as endometriosis and it’s supposed to accelerate the healing process. I’ve noticed since taking it I am much less sensitive to triggers.
- Advil – helped to bring down inflammation when I was in public and didn’t have anything else on me. I’ve also found advil helped the most for urethra inflammation (vs Quercetin that worked better for bladder inflammation).
I’ve tried other supplements that didn’t help me as much including:

Aloe Vera – capsules hurt my stomach
Tumeric – ok for inflammation, but Quercetin worked way better
PEA – didn’t see any improvement with this
Colustrum – didn’t see any improvement with this
Glucosamine & Chondroitin w/MSM – ok, but I found MSM alone worked better
I know everyone has different symptoms/triggers, but I’m hoping this will help some of you & give you hope it’s possible to get better.”
