I found this post on Reddit. The title “I am finally over IC, after 2+ years” caught my attention. Who knows if this person is still Interstitial Cystitis symptom-free, but I thought this was worth sharing. I reached out to the person who posted this to see if she is still doing well. I will update this post on my blog if she responds.

I am finally over Interstitial Cystitis, after 2+ years.
I am a 62 year old female. My Interstitial Cystitis was really bad at first, but not as severe as many others I read here.
I did a few things to turn it around:
Change the diet. Acid and spicy 🌶️ food had to be cut out. I gradually was able to add them back in after meds… And Corona Light is a low-acid beer that – in moderation – didn’t bother me, which made life a lot easier!
Colustrum. This stuff is awesome for calming the bladder right away. I took a scoop/half teaspoon 🥄 2x/day, sometimes more of it or more often with flare-ups.
Cystex – worked for immediate flareups/ emergencies.
Tums/Rolaids – for acid, with meals 🥘
I was taking Vesicare, but began taking Elmiron after 9 months or so. Elmiron, for me, worked to help control my sensitivity, but I wasn’t getting enough improvement after a year.
Reishi (mushroom) mushroom 🍄. 1 capsule 2x/day. I had taken reishi 1x/day for about 4 years now for allergies, but it also ramped up my immune system. When my IC wasn’t getting any better I decided to double up to see if it would help. It was an immediate change – I turned the corner.
It still took time but I finally was able to quit Elmiron – gradually over a few weeks now.

So CHEERS – here is hoping this helps someone else!
