Interstitial Cystitis is not considered a curable condition.
A common question 🙋♂️ people have about Interstitial Cystitis is if this disease can be cured. The medical profession believes that Interstitial Cystitis is incurable; however, they state that the disease can go into remission.
Interstitial Cystitis is a chronic condition, but your symptoms can go into remission. This means that they might go away for a period of time, or they are milder.
Symptoms may vary daily or weekly 📆 or may be constant and unrelenting for months or years and then resolve spontaneously with or without therapy. Spontaneous remission is temporary and can last up to an average of about 8 months.

When doctors tell you your condition is incurable (as for me with chronic migraine) it can be very deflating and tempting to give up – DON’T – a better quality of life and remission may be possible. Keep going and keep growing! Linda xx

Linda, thank you for the encouraging words. I try and stay positive but it is difficult at times. I let me feel sorry myself for a couple of days and then I snap out of it and continue to press on. I also have a great support system in place which is great. Thank you for visiting my blog. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

My pleasure – I totally get the feeling sorry for yourself from time to time; a life with chronic illness IS hard and stressful and disappointing – but we need to keep going…!! SO glad that you have a great support team; it makes the world of difference! L xx

Eight months doesn’t sound like a long time, however, even a break for a month would be wonderful. I’m thrilled if I get a day a week free from pain, then I do something and it am miserable for the next 2 days. I am so glad you can get some remission but I’m sure it is never long enough.

I unfortunately never went into remission. People who are healthy hopefully appreciate it. I am sorry to hear that you have to live with a chronic disease. I am always praying that one day I will be free from this disease. As you can tell from my blog, I am always searching the internet for more information about my disease. I keep hoping I will stumble on to something that really works for me. Thank you for sharing your comments on my posts. I really appreciate your support and thoughts about my posts!
